Adults

Again this will depend on class ability. For a class lasting an hour

Warm up 25 mins

  • Preparation   5 mins
  • Main          10 mins
  • Individual   10mins

The warm up is a good time to flag up issues such as old injuries, and lifestyle. It is important that you know any injuries old or new.

Main Teaching activity 20 mins

  • Main dance activity 15 mins
  • Practice                    5 mins

Note I have change the word performance for practice, many adults dance for fun and the idea of preforming would horrify them. You still need time time evaluate there learning though, so a 5 minute practice where they leave you alone to watch and where you do not teach just evaluate is important this time may only need to be 3 mins it depends on the class and routine but will help you know how plan for the next lesson.

Cool down 5 mins

  • cool down 5 mins

Not these times are for an active adult class in many cases adults have not exercise for years or incases of older classes have problems with certain movements. Old injury such as a knee operation or replacement can be a problem so it is important to ask a) if there is any problems and b)what there consulatant says the can and can't do. Example in the case of a hip relacement they should not cross their legs i.e grapevine and in the case of a knee relacement they should not kneel on the knee.
