The UKA link will let you down load a risk assesment forms and also examintion forms for your pupils.

The portfolio

You will need a  portfolio broken into sections. The information in it can be typed or written or a mixture of the two but it needs to be neat and well set out for the examiner to read easily.

There should be an index at the front of the file and a bibliography at the end of each section sourcing all your references. Work should be written in your own words. If you need to quote something you have read or heard you need to put it in quotation marks and acknowledge your source. Stealing other people’s ideas as your own is called plagiarism. Be careful not to accidentally write something. Example, jotting notes down then late forgetting that they were not your words but from a passage you had read

Where to put what

As you work through the course you will see that things are set out with your portfolio in mind so that you can easily place them in your folder. Do not simply copy what you are given you will need to research your own work.

And remeber your Bibliography this can be at the end of each section or at the end of your portfolio.

Marking

Each section will be looked at by your teacher but any comments will be set out separately as ultimately the portfolio will be looked at by the examiner at the end of your course not your teacher. The portfolio is for proof of work done but most of the examination will be oral and demonstration work, therefore work needs to be learnt well. During your course you will be expected to participate in examination style exercises some of these will be with your teacher and some at home. It is expected that you will do these at home examinations to the best of your ability and without your notes so that you get a true picture of how you are progressing.

Remeber just because you are doing an anatomy examination don't miss out the anatomy section in your portfolio.

When you have finished it. Look at it and say to yourself

Dose this show my abilities?

Will it make someone think I am a good teacher?

Dose it show all I know?

Dose it have the 'WOW' factor?

It is up to you to do the work and keep up to date with your classes.
Make sure you set a side time to teach and observe lessons and keep your dance skills up to date.
